The Melbourne Writers’ Festival runs from Friday 21 August to Sunday 30 August with loads of panels, launches, events, workshops, etc.

For me, the festival looks like this:

1. Author party on Thursday night (hosted by Text Publishing).
2. Panel “Who knew crime could be this sassy?” with Kerry Greenwood and Lisa Lutz, Friday 21 August 4pm.
3. Davitt Awards, Friday 21 August 7pm.
4. Panel, “X-rated?” with Garry Disher and Philip McLaren, Saturday 22 August 4pm.
5. MWF official opening night party, Saturday 22 August 8.30pm.
6. Author dinner party, Thursday 27 August 7pm.
7. Ned Kelly Awards (I’m on the debating panel), Friday 28 August 7pm.

This week my preparation has included reading all my fellow panelists’ books. What bliss to read without guilt – usually I’m telling myself I should be writing! And next week will be some research for my debate topic at the Ned Kelly Awards.

Lucky for me my current manuscript is at the publishers!
